Welcome to the monthly goal update series. At the end of each month, I’ll write a wrap-up post on how I am tracking with my goals. I know the only person interested in this much detail about my life is my grandmother, however, science says that you are more likely to achieve something if you have to share your progress publically, and who am I to question science?
October in a nutshell
Who doesn’t love a long weekend? Starting off October with a long weekend away with Mr. B, then followed up with another slightly shorter weekend away with friends was a great way to start the month. With Sydney seeing a hotter than average October we managed to explore a total of 9 different beaches and enjoy camping in the great outdoors without the normal morning chills. Let’s get on with the goal review!
The goal review – Read more about my original goals here.
1. Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night
As much as I love daylight savings, if I don’t go to bed on time I still wake up with the sunshine through my bedroom window….this tells me I need to stop staying up late reading amazing blogs on my phone and go to bed. Let’s see if I can make it happen!
2. Do more physical activity
As above we have had to chance to explore 9 different beaches throughout October. Not only is it great exercise to walk along the coast, it is a beautiful place to do it. We are so lucky to live where we do and get to combine being active with getting out in the sunshine and enjoying the natural beauty Australia has to offer.
3. Find a way to ‘give’ each month
For October and until the end of the year my focus is on ensuring as many Aussie’s as possible have a great Christmas and holiday season. This will come in the form of me donating festive food to those in need and gifts to children who would otherwise go without. This is something I do each year and am quite passionate about. I believe everyone deserves to have some magic in thier life.
4. Increase my savings rate by 1% each month
The goal for October was 58% of take home pay. This month I decided to save 100% of my side hustle income and was able to reach a savings rate of 61%! It’s amazing what a small change can do. As previously explained, based on my main job alone I can reach a 48% savings rate, so I need to keep my side hustles rolling in to get that savings rate higher.
5. Learn as much as I can about blogging and update this blog at least once per week
Another month hitting 3 out of 4 weeks for posting. Unfortunately, I had a potential guest poster ghost me, but that shouldn’t be an excuse – I need a backup plan.
Keep a look out for the first small business owner interview in November. I’ll be talking to Nothing More, Nothing less about how their services may help our readers to achieve a better work, life and fun balance. We hope through this series you find some awesome new products/services to consider helping you live a happier and more fulfilled life.
If you know an awesome small business that I should interview in the new series or you are interested in sharing a guest post with AAB readers contact me here.
That’s a wrap for October!
