Do you want to make some extra money?
For the last 2 years, one of the ways I have earned some extra money was by taking part in free online surveys. Many companies are willing to pay you for your opinion on a wide range of topics from groceries to travel, new movies, banking and more!
I’ll be honest with you up front and say it won’t be the most lucrative side hustle, earning $5-$8.00 per hour on average, but if you use your time wisely you can make a nice little bonus to pay off bills or save for something special just for you.
I first heard about free online survey sites that pay for my opinion in 2015. I signed up for as many as I could and would complete the surveys during times when I would otherwise be doing non-money making tasks; my unpaid lunchbreak at work, while on public transport, or instead of scrolling through Facebook or watching TV in the evenings. I didn’t make millions (not even thousands) from taking online surveys, but I did earn some extra pocket money for doing relatively easy work that fit in around regular schedule win-win!
My tips for finding and using free online survey sites
Here are some of my tips for earning some extra money with online surveys and a list of my favourite sites to join.
Check the site is the real deal
I’ve heard stories of people filling out all of their details only to realise it is part of a scam or phishing exercise. As always be alert when filling out your personal details online and stick with reputable companies.
A big warning sign is if you are asked for money or a registration fee to sign up. I’ve taken a lot of surveys over the past 2 years and I have never had to pay to join any of the sites. The companies who want the research results will pay for it. If they ask you for money, it is probably a scam. Also look out for the ones that promise you too much. As I said above, taking free online surveys is not a get rich quick scheme. If it sound too good to be true, it probably is.
Some people try to guess what they want to company want to hear but it usually ends badly. Companies are looking for specific demographics on each survey, but they might not always be what you think!
Once you start to lie it makes it harder to answer the following questions, and could hurt your chances for getting better surveys in the future. Always be honest when answering the online surveys.
Sign up for as many sites as you can
I recommend signing up for as many free online survey sites as possible if you are interested in making the most money possible. Each company may have a restriction on how many surveys you can complete in a certain timeframe so your earnings may be more spread out, whereas if you sign up to a few different online survey sites you can earn a little from each. It is quick and easy to sign up to each one, and you will have to fill out a ‘profile’ for each, but that is a one off task and they you can get on with earning your extra side income.
